St. Patrick’s Day

Colin & Lauren had a surprise visit at school today. Lucky the Leprechaun stopped by and boy-oh-boy did he make a mess. He left green footprints everywhere and even made the milk turn green. Well at least he left his pot-of-gold chocolates behind for all of the trouble he caused.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from our two lucky charms.

Basketball Awards Ceremony and Banquet

Colin received a trophy today during the LYA Biddy Basketball Awards Ceremony and Banquet. The trophies were handed out in the Gym during a ceremony in which all of the participants had their names read out loud followed by a handshake or high-five from their coach before being handed their trophy. The ceremony was brief but not rushed. You could see the excitement in each kid as their name was called out and handed a trophy for their participation.

Basketball was the first team sport that Colin played and he seemed to really enjoy it. Although shying away from the ball in the beginning he improved throughout the season was getting closer to making a basket by the end of the season.

Colin had told me early in the season that if he did a good job that he would be getting a trophy. However, as much as he was excited to receive a trophy for his accomplishments on the court he seemed equally excited that they were going to eating pizza, “his favorite”, at the banquet.

Snow Day

Another winter storm came through dumping around 6 inches of the white stuff. This time the snow was soft and fluffy. While I cleared the driveway with the snow thrower the kids had fun sledding down a small hill in our backyard.

Afterwards I joined them in a snowball fight. You could make the best snowballs with this snow and boy did we. Colin and Lauren had a great time playing outside and helping Dad.

Family Game Night

Tonight was family game night. We pulled out a couple of kid-friendly board games and sat down for an enjoyable evening of family fun. Colin and Lauren had a great time playing a couple of rounds of Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders.

Famly playing Candy Land

Lauren ended up winning every game and Colin was not happy about this. He had a mini meltdown and we ended up having a discussion about how these games were simply games of chance. However, Colin was quite upset about how Lauren didn’t even let him win one game. “It’s just not fair” he said. Moments later all was forgotten and despite the little meltdown at the end I really believe that everyone had a great time. It was nice to stay home and hang out together.

VTech Kidizoom Digital Camera

Colin loves taking photos with his new VTech Kidizoom Digital Camera. He received a VTech digital camera for Christmas this year and it seems to be one of his favorite toys. He enjoys taking photos and as soon as we grab our Canon Digital Rebel he is looking for his VTech camera. In addition to photos Colin can take short video clips, mess around with some digital effects (see below) and even play some games.

Below is a photo that he allowed me to take of him.

Valentine’s Day

Colin & Lauren enjoyed another Valentine’s Day. At school the celebrated the day by exchanging cards to all of the classmates. Colin picked out “Cars” themed valentines while Lauren went with “Princess’s”.

Later that evening we handed them their cards from us and of course some candy, a balloon and some other goodies.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Pre-K Basketball

Colin has been playing basketball in a pre-school / kindergarten league in town. Seeing that he never played the game before he seems to be doing pretty good. Although he hasn’t exactly had a basket yet; he does get a little bit closer in every game. He enjoys playing and looks forward to the games on Sunday.

Like Nothing Else

Finally Christmas Day had arrived. Colin & Lauren waited patiently in our bedroom until it was time to go downstairs. After I verified that Santa didn’t miss our house I was quickly joined by two very excited kids.

Santa had delivered his goods as anticipated; in exchange for 12 months of niceness and pleasantries. Colin & Lauren opened the gifts in their stockings first. A minute later we moved onto the packages under the tree.

After all the presents were opened we headed towards the kitchen for breakfast where the kids found a yellow Hummer riding toy with a special note from Santa attached with a big red bow.

So how was their Christmas? It was Like Nothing Else™.

Merry Christmas!

Colin and Lauren posed for this wonderful photo that we used on this year’s Christmas cards.

Merry Christmas.

Halloween 2007

Colin & Lauren enjoyed trick-o-treating with their friend Evan. Colin decided to dress up in a Lightning McQueen Pit Crew costume. Lauren chose to be Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
